Bayern Munich have submitted an official bid for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, according to The Athletic.
The Bavarians have earmarked the England international as their top target to fill their hole in the centre-forward department.
Kane has reportedly agreed to join the Bundesliga champions, and Bayern have offered €70 million plus add-ons to Tottenham.
Spurs rejected it and will hold out for at least £100m. Bayern’s first offer was reportedly below €70m and was knocked back.
Bayern struggled domestically and in Europe due to the absence of a world-class striker.
They signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool for £45m to replace Robert Lewandowski last summer, but he has not lived up to the billing in Germany.
Die Rekordmeister are in the market for a striker to lead their line and have moved for one of the best in the world.
Kane netted 30 Premier League goals this season. He created 14 big chances and recorded three assists.
The 29-year-old finished behind Manchester City’s Erling Braut Haaland in the Premier League top scorers chart last season.
Kane became Tottenham’s all-time top scorer, overtaking Jimmy Greaves while moving into second position in the all-time Premier League standings.
The Walthamstow-born striker is 48 goals away from breaking Alan Shearer’s 260 Premier League goals record.
He wanted to stay in England to complete the individual mission, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy does not want to see him playing for a rival.
Manchester United showed interest in Kane but will not get dragged into lengthy negotiations with Levy.
Real Madrid were ready to move for him, but the availability of Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe has distracted them.
Chelsea’s new manager Mauricio Pochettino is a massive admirer of Kane, but the Blues know Levy won’t sell to them.
Kane is on the radar of the Germans and would have the chance to grab the silverware his CV is missing if he signs for them.
