Bayern Munich closing in on Kim Min-jae as Lucas Hernandez’s imminent PSG move paves way for deal

Bayern Munich are closing in on a deal for Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae, reports Calciomercato journalist Marco Giordano.

The Bundesliga club are set to lose Lucas Hernandez, with the Frenchman set to join Paris Saint-Germain following an agreement between both parties.

His exit will pave the way for Bayern to sign Min-jae, and their technical director Marco Neppe has recently held talks with the agent of the South Korean international.

Both sides are yet to reach an agreement, with the finances still being sorted out.

However, a deal is expected to be sealed within the next couple of days.

Bayern want to bolster their defence after a disappointing Champions League campaign last term.

They were knocked out of the elite Europe competition by eventual champions Manchester City in the quarter-final after losing 4-1 on aggregate.

French centre-back Dayot Upamecano was poor across both legs, gifting the Premier League club a penalty, committing several errors and having a red card rescinded thanks to VAR.

Bayern know they need to bring in a top defender if they want to win the Champions League next term, and Min-jae fits the bill.

The 26-year-old was in splendid form last term as Napoli won their first league title in 33 years.

Manchester United were interested in recruiting the Korean giant, while Manchester City have also been linked with him.

However, Bayern appear to have won the race for his signature, with Napoli expected to cash in on one of their most-prized assets.
