Newcastle in advanced talks to sign £30m-rated Southampton player

Newcastle United are reportedly in advanced talks with Southampton to sign Tino Livramento this summer.

The Saints suffered relegation to the Championship after finishing bottom of the Premier League table last season.

They are now expected to lose several players including Kyle Walker-Peters, Armel Bella-Kotchap and Romeo Lavia.

Livramento remained on the sidelines for almost the whole 2022-23 campaign due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, making only three appearances in all competitions.

However, the 20-year-old still has enormous potential.

According to the Telegraph, Southampton want £30 million to allow the England under-21 international to leave.

But Newcastle are hoping to get a deal over the line for around half that amount.

The Magpies have already submitted a proposal including cash plus Ryan Fraser, but it remains to be seen whether the Championship outfit will accept the offer.

Livramento started his youth career at Chelsea but moved to the Saints after failing to make his competitive debut in London.

The 20-year-old made an impressive start to life at St Mary’s, making 32 senior appearances in the 2021-22 season.

But his progress was hampered after he picked up a serious ACL injury last year, and a move to St James’ Park would be a big step up for the talented right-back.

The Tyneside club will be playing in the Champions League after they finished fourth in the league table.

The Englishman is only 20, and the prospect of joining the north east outfit could prove too tempting to ignore.
