Saudi giants Al Nassr have had a meeting with Antoine Griezmann’s representatives, with the Frenchman containing a bargain release clause worth €25 million in his Atletico Madrid contract, reports Foot Mercato.
Saudi Arabia is turning out to be the main protagonist of the summer transfer window, having persuaded a legion of world-class players from Europe’s big five leagues, and there’s plenty more being targeted.
Al Nassr, who recruited Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this year and recently secured Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea, have now set their sights on Griezmann.
Griezmann enjoyed a resurgence last season, returning to form after netting 15 goals and 15 assists in La Liga.
Leaving behind his nightmare Barcelona spell, the French forward established himself as arguably the best player in La Liga.
Paris Saint-Germain are also being credited with an interest in him, with his release clause making him a tempting proposition.
However, Griezmann has recently declared his commitment to Los Rojiblancos, putting an end to his exit rumours.
Al Nassr also have Griezmann’s Atletico teammate Saul Niguez on their transfer wishlist.
The La Liga giants are open to selling the Spanish international as it would mitigate their financial troubles.
Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has been identified as Saul’s replacement, with Atletico in advanced talks to sign the Moroccan international.
Al Nassr are also working on a potential deal to sign Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, having submitted an offer worth around €18m.
The Riyadh-based outfit face competition from Barcelona, who are contemplating a summer move for the Croatian midfielder.
