Borussia Dortmund on the verge of agreeing personal terms with West Ham target Edson Alvarez

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Edson Alvarez.

Fabrizio Romano claims the German club are willing to offer the 25-year-old a contract until 2028 and will open negotiations with Ajax over a fee next week.

The 25-year-old joined the Dutch outfit in 2019 as a replacement for Matthijs de Ligt.

However, he struggled for minutes during his first season, starting just six league matches.

He went on to establish himself as one of the key members of the first team.

Alvarez has made over 140 senior appearances for the club, bagging 13 goals and six assists.

Dortmund are looking to bring in midfield reinforcements following Jude Bellingham’s departure

They will likely have to pay a huge transfer fee to secure the Mexican’s services.

Chelsea offered Є50 million in January, but Ajax turned down their bid.

The Black and Yellows will have to come up with a concrete offer soon because the defensive midfielder is also attracting interest from the Premier League.

West Ham United are expected to lose Declan Rice and they are keen to sign Alvarez as a replacement

Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest in Alvarez.

Ajax do not need to sell Alvarez this summer, with his contract running until June 2025.
