Ruben Neves joins Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal from Wolves

Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves has completed a move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal.

He has signed a three-year deal until 2026. The Premier League club will receive £47 million for Neves.

The 26-year-old leaves Wolves after six seasons where he bagged 30 goals and 13 assists in 253 appearances.

The Portugal international joins a string of high-profile names that have moved to Saudi Arabia this summer.

Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante have already joined the Saudi Pro League and many more top names are set to follow.

Neves initially joined Wolves in the Championship from FC Porto, where he was the youngest player to captain a team in the Champions League.

The midfielder helped Wolves climb into the Premier League, and they have stayed in the top flight since then.

Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs described Neves as one of the greatest players in Wolves’ history.

He said (via Wolves.co.uk): “Everyone at Wolves would like to thank Ruben for all he has done for the club throughout his six years here.

“Not only for his effort and commitment as a player but also as a person off the pitch.

“Ruben is the embodiment of everything you look for when trying to bring players into a football club – a leader, a humble man, and an extremely talented footballer who took Wolves to a different level.

“He was part of a great era for this club and will go down as one of our best-ever players.

“We are grateful for everything he has done for Wolves and wish him and his family the very best for the future.”
