Dani Ceballos pens contract extension with Real Madrid until 2027

Following the contract renewals of Toni Kroos and Nacho, Dani Ceballos is the latest player to pen an extension with Real Madrid, as confirmed by the club.

The Spanish midfielder’s future was the subject of speculation, with his current deal expiring at the end of this month.

Atletico Madrid and Real Betis were credited with an interest in Ceballos, but he has committed his future to Los Blancos, signing a new deal until 2027.

The 26-year-old had been a peripheral figure at Madrid before coming back to life last season, nailing down a prominent role under Carlo Ancelotti.

Clocking up 46 appearances in all competitions, Ceballos was instrumental in Madrid’s Copa del Rey triumph.

He will look to build on his impressive 2022/23 campaign, but there will be tough competition in the squad over a starting role.

Questions have been raised over Ceballos’ future with the arrival of Jude Bellingham, who will be an outright starter for Ancelotti.

Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Federico Valverde offer further competition in midfield.

Ceballos will have to bide the time and utilise the opportunities he is given to become a prominent fixture in the team.

Los Merengues are one of the most active clubs in the transfer window, having seen a fair share of new signings and departures.

Bellingham, Joselu and Fran Garcia have sealed moves to Madrid, while Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio have parted ways with the club.

Luka Modric could be the next to extend his contract, and an official announcement is just around the corner.

There are also growing rumours of Madrid planning to sign Kylian Mbappe, who has declined Paris Saint-Germain’s renewal offer.
