The Championship fixtures for the 2023-24 season have been announced with Sheffield Wednesday taking on Southampton in the opening game on Friday, August 4.
The Owls pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in the League One play-off semi-finals before beating Barnsley 1-0 in the final to win promotion.
They will face Southampton who finished at the bottom of the Premier League after a disappointing 2022-23 season.
Leeds United, who finished above the Saints in 19th, will begin their promotion campaign with a home encounter against Cardiff City on Sunday, August 6.
Leicester City will host play-off finalists Coventry City at the King Power Stadium on the same day.
League One champions Plymouth Argyle will lock horns with Huddersfield Town at Home Park on Saturday, August 5.
That will be one of the eight matches played that day, with Blackburn Rovers vs West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough vs Millwall also taking place that afternoon.
Cardiff City and Swansea City play the South Wales derby on September 16 and March 16, while Leeds and Huddersfield Town will renew hostilities on October 28 and March 2.
The season will end on Saturday, May 4. The play-offs will follow, but the dates haven’t been announced yet.
