Al-Ittihad confirm the signing of Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante

Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad have confirmed they have signed Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.

More departures are expected from the club in the Premier League transfer window

Kante joined the Blues in 2016 from Leicester City in a £32 million deal.

He went on to establish himself as a regular at Stamford Bridge, making over 260 senior appearances during his eight-year stint.

The Frenchman’s time with the Blues saw him win the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup.

However, several injury problems limited his availability to just seven Premier League appearances last season.

Kante, whose contract was due to expire at the end of this month, has agreed to join Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League.

According to BBC Sport, the 32-year-old has penned a three-year contract worth around £86m.

Al-Ittihad have already signed former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, while they have been linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-min Son

However, a deal for the South Korean looks difficult, with Spurs unlikely to let him go.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side won the Pro League title this season after finishing five points above Al-Nassr.

Al Nassr were expected to seal the league title after they signed Cristiano Ronaldo last year.

But several disappointing performances during April and May saw them ultimately finishing second in the table.

Al-Nassr sacked their manager Rudi Garcia in April but they are yet to appoint a replacement.
