West Ham United eye swoop for Bristol City star Alex Scott

West Ham United are eyeing a move for Bristol City midfield star Alex Scott after a breakout campaign in the Championship, according to Standard Sport.

The highly-regarded 19-year-old had a season to remember at Ashton Gate, and it will be unsurprising to see him earn a move up to the Premier League after his stellar campaign.

Scott finished the season with 42 appearances in the second tier, bagging one goal and four assists.

He won the Championship Young Player of the Season award and has just returned from the Under-20 World Cup.

The Guernsey-born midfielder recently earned praise from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

Robins boss Nigel Pearson declared that the midfielder would play for the England national team one day.

West Ham have spoken to Scott’s representatives about a transfer this summer, and they are considering whether to make a move.

They have had recent success targeting players from the Championship. Jarrod Bowen (Hull City) and Said Benrahma (Brentford) are prominent examples.

Since joining West Ham, Bowen has become an England international and scored their Europa Conference League-winning goal. Benrahma opened the scoring against Fiorentina in the final.

Pearson values Scott at around £25 million, and West Ham will have to bid close to that figure to secure his services.

West Ham are planning to replace Declan Rice this summer. Arsenal have made two bids for Rice, but West Ham have rejected both.

However, Rice is expected to leave for around £100m.

They must invest in quality midfield additions as they prepare for a season with Europa League football.
