Sevilla have confirmed the appointment of former Leeds United transfer chief Victor Orta as their new sporting director on a three-year contract.
He has rejoined the club, where he was formerly a technical director, to replace Monchi. He recently joined Premier League club Aston Villa to reunite with Unai Emery.
Sevilla needed a replacement for Monchi and have turned to Orta.
The Spaniard left Elland Road last month after almost six years at Leeds. He had masterminded their ascent from the Championship to the Premier League.
However, after a turbulent campaign, the 44-year-old oversaw their relegation this season. Leeds went through four managers last term.
Jesse Marsch, Javi Gracia, Michael Skubala and Sam Allardyce had spells in charge, but to no avail.
Orta will return to Sevilla to help Jose Luis Mendilibar build a competitive squad ahead of next season.
Following their Europa League win, they booked their place in the Champions League despite finishing 12th in La Liga.
Orta began his career in sports as a journalist before he began working with agents, and a chance opened for him to be sporting director of Real Valladolid in 2005.
He joined Sevilla as technical director a year later, and a successful period followed. His tenure saw Sevilla win two Europa League titles, a UEFA Super Cup and two Copas del Rey.
They also won the Spanish Super Cup, and the reserves achieved promotion to the second tier.
Orta went to Zenit St Petersburg and returned to Spain with Elche before heading to England to join Middlesbrough.
He was influential in bringing Marcelo Bielsa to Leeds as they pushed into the Premier League for the first time in 16 years. They also achieved a remarkable ninth-place finish.
