Chelsea strikers unwilling to join Saudi Pro League

Chelsea strikers Romelu Lukaku and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang don’t want to join the Saudi Pro League, according to the Daily Mail.

Aubameyang has struggled at Chelsea since making the £10 million move from Barcelona last summer.

He has looked out of place with the Blues and was on the bench for most of the latter part of the season.

The Gabonese international hoped to return to Barcelona this summer, but the Catalans will prioritise a move for Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque.

Saudi Arabia has Aubameyang on their radar, with the 34-year-old wanting out. They have made a £6 million offer to Chelsea.

However, he is uninterested in the Saudi offer. He is still looking for his next club, but the Gulf nation is not in his thoughts.

He also has an offer from a Major League Soccer (MLS) club.

The best bet for Aubameyang is to somehow free himself from his contract with the two-time Champions League winners and engineer a move for himself.

Lukaku is also not keen on the Saudi Pro League project. The centre-forward is reportedly keen on staying with Inter Milan, where he spent the past year on loan.

The problem is that the Nerazzurri want to loan the Belgian for another year, but Chelsea want an outright sale.

They initially shelled out £97 million to take him from Inter, but his form declined after a bright start.

His criticism of then-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel in an ill-advised interview while declaring undying love for the Milan club did not help matters.

Chelsea allowed Inter to take him on loan, but they now want the Italian giants to make the move permanent. Inter do not have the funds, leaving the deal at an impasse.

Incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to work with Lukaku, but he has his heart set on Milan. He has refused the Saudi offer for a chance to stay in Serie A.
