Rangers announce the signing of Sam Lammers

Rangers have announced they have signed Dutch attacker Sam Lammers.

The 26-year-old has joined the Ibrox side from Atalanta on a four-year deal, becoming their fourth signing of the summer.

Rangers manager Michael Beale has added a midfielder, defender and goalkeeper to his ranks in Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland, respectively.

Bolstering his front line with the signing of Lammers is a huge boost, but more signings are expected.

The PSV Eindhoven academy graduate played just 19 games for Atalanta during his three-year spell at the Serie A club.

He spent time on loan with Eintracht Frankfurt, Empoli and Sampdoria, scoring four goals in 48 games across his time at the three clubs.

Lammers will be keen to prove himself at Rangers and look to hit the ground running.

Being constantly shipped out on loan over the last 48 months would have affected his chances of settling down and impressing.

Despite his recent struggles, the Dutchman notched 19 goals in 35 games while on loan at Heerenveen in 2018-19.

Lammers bagged 30 goals in 63 appearances for PSV II in the Dutch second division and will be raring to revive his form in Scotland.

Rangers ended the campaign without silverware as Celtic strolled to a domestic clean sweep.

Beale wants to assemble a squad capable of challenging the Hoops next term and has already released several players.

He will hope the addition of Lammers and co can help the Gers get back to winning ways next term.
