Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe has once again confirmed that he wants to stay at the club but will not renew his contract.
His deal runs out in 2024, but he can extend it until 2025. He will not take up the option but wants to see out the final year of his contract.
Mbappe is on duty for France for their upcoming 2024 European Championship qualifiers against Gibraltar and Greece.
He said (via RMC Sport): “I said that my objective was to continue at the club.
“Staying at PSG is my only option for the moment, so I’m ready to come back to the pre-season.
“The letter was not sent during the rally. It was sent before.
“I didn’t think a letter would kill anyone or that I had offended anyone. I just sent a letter. You can’t control the reactions, but I don’t care.”
Real Madrid to revive long-term interest in Mbappe?
PSG want to sell the attacker – they are tired of fielding his demands and are hoping Real Madrid will submit an offer.
Mbappe is a long-term target for Los Blancos. PSG beat the Madrid club to Mbappe’s signature when he left AS Monaco.
Madrid have attempted to sign the attacker from the Ligue 1 club, but PSG did everything they could to keep him.
However, following the latest developments, PSG want to move him on him this summer.
They are already planning for an upheaval that will see them stop signing superstars. They have already let go of Lionel Messi and also want Neymar.
The PSG all-time top scorer could follow them out of the door as sporting director Luis Campos attempts to restructure the squad.
