Real Madrid announce the signing of Jude Bellingham

Real Madrid have confirmed the acquisition of Borussia Dortmund prodigy Jude Bellingham.

Fending off competition from Manchester City and Liverpool, the La Liga giants had earlier reached an agreement with Dortmund over the transfer of Bellingham, who will cost upwards of €100 million.

“Real Madrid CF and Borussia Dortmund have agreed on the transfer of the player Jude Bellingham, who will remain linked to our club for the next six seasons,” a statement on Madrid’s official website read.

“Tomorrow, Thursday, June 15, at 12:00 noon at Real Madrid City, the presentation ceremony for Jude Bellingham as a new Real Madrid player will take place.

“Next, Jude Bellingham will appear before the media.”

Bellingham is Los Blancos’ second signing of the summer window following the earlier arrival of Fran Garcia, while Brahim Diaz has also been recalled from his two-year loan spell at AC Milan.

However, Bellingham may not be Madrid’s biggest summer addition with Kylian Mbappe now back on the menu following his decision not to extend his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe was linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu last summer as a free agent before he opted to extend his stay at Parc des Princes, but the 24-year-old could be set for a sensational switch to Madrid this time around.

Landing Mbappe and Bellingham in the same window would represent a massive statement of intent from Madrid in their quest to regain domestic and continental supremacy.

A first Copa del Rey title since 2014 last time out did little to make up for a disappointing league campaign which saw Madrid finish second, ten points behind arch-rivals Barcelona.

They also suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat over two legs to Man City in the semi-final of the Champions League.
