Levi Colwill earns his first England call-up ahead of their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers

Levi Colwill has joined the England national team ahead of their 2024 European Championship qualifying matches against Malta and North Macedonia, according to the Secret Scout.

The Three Lions are aiming to book their place at the tournament in Germany next year. They already top Group C and could make their lead more emphatic with wins in their next two games.

The Chelsea defender will replace Lewis Dunk, who will miss the matches due to injury.

He spent last season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion and impressed during his spell there.

The 20-year-old made 15 Premier League appearances. He helped his side keep three clean sheets and assisted two goals.

The centre-back impressed in cup competitions when manager Roberto De Zerbi allowed him to showcase his talents.

Colwill is calm and composed at the back. His six-foot-two-inch frame and massive body make him an imposing physical presence in duels.

He had previously impressed during his first loan spell away from Chelsea, helping Huddersfield Town reach the Championship play-offs in the 2021/22 season.

Brighton first tried to sign Colwill when Chelsea pushed for Marc Cucurella, but the Blues refused. They agreed on a season-long loan.

However, they still want him and made a £30 million offer to sign him permanently after his loan spell which Chelsea rejected.

The Blues will try to extend his deal which runs out in 2025 but must demonstrate they are prepared to give him chances in the first team.

The young defender will fancy his chances of establishing himself under Mauricio Pochettino, especially with Benoit Badiashile out for the foreseeable future with an injury.

The Blues are looking to sell Kalidou Koulibaly after a disappointing campaign, leaving the way clear for Colwill to establish himself at Stamford Bridge.
