AC Milan planning to make striker target Marcus Thuram a top earner

AC Milan have identified French striker Marcus Thuram as a primary target to reinforce their attack.

The departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud’s advancing age have led Milan to prioritise a top-quality centre-forward in the transfer market.

Thuram is one of the hottest free agents available after parting ways with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are leading the race for the 25-year-old, but Milan are also in the mix.

Tuttosport reports that Milan are ready to offer Thuram a salary worth around €5 million per season.

This would make him the club’s highest earner alongside Theo Hernandez and Ismael Bennacer.

Milan are ready to make Thuram a central figure of their project alongside Rafael Leao.

The 2022 World Cup finalist enjoyed his best-ever season with Gladbach in the recently-concluded campaign, netting 16 goals and seven assists in all competitions.

PSG are also actively looking for offensive reinforcements following Lionel Messi’s departure, with Thuram’s name high on football advisor Luis Campos’s wishlist.

Milan would be a perfect place for Thuram to progress his career, but they may struggle to compete with financial powerhouse PSG.

They have identified FC Porto striker Mehdi Taremi as a back-up option.

The 30-year-old has been one of Europe’s most prolific strikers over the last few seasons, and his future is subject to speculation, with his current deal expiring in 2024.

Milan are also working on moves for Daichi Kamada and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

This season’s Champions League semi-finalists are keen to strengthen their squad as they prepare for another campaign in the competition next season.
