PSG initiate contact with Wilfried Zaha

Wilfried Zaha’s future was always likely to be one of the hottest topics in the summer transfer window after his refusal to renew his contract with Crystal Palace.

As one of the most sought-after free agents on the market, the 30-year-old has caught the eye of several Saudi Pro League clubs and La Liga powerhouse Atletico Madrid.

Mighty petrodollars from the Middle East threaten to change the landscape of the summer transfer window, with the Ivory Coast international emerging as one of the top targets for the wealthy Saudi clubs.

Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr have pieced together a lucrative £45 million package to entice the Palace winger to team up with ex-Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

But if there’s any European side capable of combating the Gulf country’s financial power, it’s Paris Saint-Germain, the latest club to display interest in Zaha, as per Le Parisien.

Unfortunately for the Saudis, one of the best Premier League forwards is keen to continue his career at the top level, with reports saying he’s still waiting for European clubs to present their bids.

Aware of the situation, Les Parisiens have joined the picture, with PSG sporting director Luis Campos keeping close track of the player’s development for a lengthy period of time.

Money won’t be the problem should PSG decide to step up their effort to sign Zaha, who turned down a massive £200,000-a-week contract offer from Palace that would’ve made him the club’s highest earner.

The forward has accrued over 450 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 90 goals en route to earning a reputation as one of the best players in the club’s history.

Zaha was previously on the radar of several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, but his hefty wage demands make him prohibitive for most European teams.

PSG aren’t one of them, so it won’t be a surprise to see the Ivorian become Les Parisiens’ second summer signing after Marco Asensio.
