Bayern Munich’s are gradually giving up their interest in Juventus ace Dusan Vlahovic, reports German journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Serbian is one of the names highly recommended by manager Thomas Tuchel, who wants to sign a new striker ahead of next season.
However, Plettenberg claims that Bayern’s interest in Vlahovic is not concrete, thus closing the possibility of his arrival in the summer transfer window.
Vlahovic has failed to live up to the €70 million fee Juve shelled out for his services. The Turin giants, who are currently in the midst of a financial crisis, cite his sale as a great opportunity to recoup some funds.
A turbulent 2022/23 campaign where the Old Lady failed to secure Champions League qualification has raised doubts over the futures of a handful of first-team stars, including the Serbian international.
Bayern’s withdrawal from Vlahovic’s pursuit will be great news for his other suitors, including Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Bavarians’ quest to land a new centre-forward has not had a major breakthrough, with targets such as Randal Kolo Muani and Harry Kane out of their reach.
Kane has emerged as a top target for La Liga giants Real Madrid, who have identified the English international as a successor to Karim Benzema.
The Bavarians are also prioritising a move for a defensive midfielder, with West Ham United’s Declan Rice topping their wishlist.
Bayern are undeterred in their pursuit of the Three Lions midfielder despite competition from Arsenal, who are reportedly the front-runners to land him.
