Real Madrid have re-signed Rayo Vallecano full-back Fran Garcia, confirmed by the club on their official website.
The Spanish left-back is Madrid’s first signing of the summer, and he has penned a four-year contract until 2027.
Los Blancos decided to trigger his €5 million buy-back clause after being impressed with his progress at Vallecano.
The 23-year-old left Santiago Bernabeu for Vallecano in 2021 and has since made 122 appearances.
Garcia featured in all 38 league games last season, producing eye-catching displays on a consistent basis.
He may compete with Ferland Mendy for the left-back spot next season, although the latter’s future is hanging in the balance.
The French full-back has endured an injury-ravaged campaign with Los Blancos, and there have been mixed reports over his continuity with Madrid.
Eduardo Camavinga has surprisingly performed well in the make-shift left-back role, but he prefers to play in midfield.
Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies has emerged as a marquee target for Madrid, but it remains to be seen whether the Bundesliga giants will sell him.
Brahim Diaz is also on the brink of returning to the Spanish capital following a three-year loan spell at AC Milan.
Milan’s efforts to sign him permanently ended in vain as Madrid had the final call on his future and also persuaded him with a lucrative new deal.
Diaz will replace his compatriot Marco Asensio, who has parted ways with Los Merengues to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
Madrid also could soon announce the signing of Jude Bellingham, who has recently undergone his medical tests with the Spanish giants.
Karim Benzema’s shock move to Saudi club Al-Ittihad has led Madrid to scour the market for a new striker.
Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Harry Kane is top of their wishlist, and Madrid have the advantage due to Spurs’ reluctance to sell him to a Premier League rival.
Chelsea forward Kai Havertz is also being monitored by Madrid, but they are reluctant to meet his valuation worth more than €60m.
