Emissaries from Saudi Arabia are in London to deliver an official proposal to Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The proposition includes a staggering salary of €100 million and encompasses image rights and potential commercial deals.
This development has piqued the interest of both Al Ittihad and Al Nassr, two prominent clubs from Saudi Arabia. It will spark a significant transfer battle for the former Caen star.
Negotiations between Kante’s representatives and Chelsea were in advanced stages earlier this year. The midfielder was ready to sign a new deal.
However, the 32-year-old’s latest injury has cast doubt on his future at Stamford Bridge. He has been battling niggling injuries for the past three seasons.
Kante could barely help his team this season, playing only nine games.
Chelsea managers Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Frank Lampard have complained about the France international’s absence.
Despite the injury problems, the club gave him a new deal on a reduced salary. He was ready to accept, but the Saudi interest has added a new layer of complexity to the situation.
Al Ittihad and Al Nassr, the two clubs eagerly vying for Kante’s signature, have already secured superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
They want to add the former Leicester City man to the roster.
The lucrative offer presented by the Saudi representatives brings more income with a substantial salary, image rights and lucrative commercial endorsements.
Chelsea are already planning a midfield rebuild. They failed to sign Manuel Ugarte, who is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blues are reportedly moving to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia and have been linked with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo.
