Alphonso Davies wanted by Manchester City and Real Madrid

Manchester City and Real Madrid are both interested in signing Alphonso Davies, according to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Since his breakout season four years ago, Davies has established himself as a first-team regular for Bayern, helping his side win several major trophies.

Blessed with great speed and athleticism, Davies poses a huge attacking threat from full-back as highlighted by his impressive 11 direct goal contributions across all competitions this term.

Unsurprisingly, the 22-year-old is now attracting interest from Madrid and Man City.

Having had to field Eduardo Camavinga at left-back more often than not recently, Madrid could do with reinforcement in that department next summer.

Man City are also short of options at left-back after selling Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal last summer, while Joao Cancelo was allowed to leave on loan in January following a rumoured altercation with Pep Guardiola.

However, both clubs will most likely have to look elsewhere in their search for a new left-back as Bayern look to tie Davies down beyond the end of his current deal, which expires in 2025.

The Canadian has previously expressed his desire to stay at Bayern as he remains grateful to the Bundesliga champions for helping him develop.

“I want to stay in Germany and with Bayern for as long as possible,” Davies told World Soccer Magazine.

“I arrived in Europe with so many dreams and already Bayern have helped me achieve many of them, but I am just getting started – there will be many more.

“Europe is always the ambition for any professional, I think, because of the standard.

“I think that there were conversations with one or two other clubs, but Bayern was an easy choice and the right choice.”
