Khvicha Kvaratskhelia wins Serie A MVP award, father discusses dream Real Madrid move

Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has won the Serie A MVP award given to the best player in the league after an incredible debut campaign in Italy.

The Georgian attacker, alongside striker Victor Osimhen, spearheaded the Partenopei to their first league title in 33 years.

He replaced Lorenzo Insigne on the left wing and took the league by storm.

Kvaratskhelia bedazzled with his silky quick feet, leaving opposition defenders for dead. He also had the end product to match the footwork.

The 22-year-old bagged 12 goals and ten assists for Napoli as they took charge at the top of the Serie A table and didn’t relinquish their lead.

Partner in crime Osimhen won the Striker of the Year award. The Nigerian scored 25 goals to finish the campaign as the league’s top scorer.

Centre-back Kim Min-jae won the Defender of the Year award after an outstanding debut campaign. The former Fenerbahce man helped his side keep 14 clean sheets.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli deserve praise for assembling the squad.

They replaced the old guard of Insigne, Dries Mertens and Kalidou Koulibaly, refreshing the squad with younger players.

Kvaratskhelia’s season has led to interest from other clubs, but he looks set to stay at Napoli for at least one more season.

However, his father has spoken of the player’s dreams of moving to Real Madrid and winning the Champions League.

Mamuka Jugeli, Kvaratskhelia’s agent, had disclosed that the Napoli attacker is a Madrid fan. His father, Badri, spoke of his son’s ambitions.

He said (via AS): “Kvaratskhelia’s dreams, his main goals, are to win the Champions League, play for Real Madrid and reach the top international tournaments with Georgia.”
