Fulham have emerged as a potential destination for Manchester United midfielder, Fred.
According to the Manchester Evening News, intermediaries have floated the idea of a summer move for the 30-year-old to the Cottagers.
Speculation intensified after Fulham manager Marco Silva was caught on camera talking to Fred outside Old Trafford following their final game of the season.
Fred is approaching the last year of his contract and a summer exit could be on the cards.
Fulham have signed several Portuguese speakers recently. They have made a series of intriguing signings since their return to the top flight last year.
They acquired Brazilian playmaker Andreas Pereira from United last July. He has brought the required flair and creativity to their squad.
Despite facing a turbulent campaign, Fred showcased his mettle in crucial matches. He featured in important victories against Manchester City and Barcelona.
Fred played a role in United’s triumph in the League Cup final against Newcastle United. He is a useful tactical piece for United manager Erik ten Hag.
As the Red Devils prepare for the FA Cup final, Ten Hag is considering a tactical shake-up against Manchester City. Fred could retain his spot in the starting XI.
However, it hasn’t been smooth sailing for the Brazil international. His game time dwindled following a devastating 7-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in early March.
Fred has started 22 matches this season – the lowest tally since his debut campaign in 2018/19.
United need to generate funds for new signings. They must comply with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations.
They will try to sell Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles and Brandon Williams this summer.
