Ryan Mason outlines what Tottenham need to do ahead of next season

Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Ryan Mason has shared his thoughts on what the club must do this summer as they prepare for next season.

Having missed out on securing a place in the Champions League, Spurs could end the campaign outside the other European qualification spots.

Mason believes Tottenham need stability after switching between three managers this season.

He said (via football.london): “There is work because we have a big squad – a lot of players on loan and decisions to make.

“First, a lot of decisions to make about the current squad. We need a manager in place, commitment and an idea.

“You can’t do transfer business without a manager because doesn’t fit his idea.

“We’ve had two or three different styles of football over the last few years. I don’t think that’s helpful for any of the players, the club or the staff.

“I would like people to know what to expect when you see a Tottenham player or anyone that works at the club.”

Spurs have been dealt a blow in their search for a new permanent boss, with Feyenoord manager Arne Slot close to signing a new deal with the Eredivisie champions.

Slot announced his decision to stay in the Netherlands yesterday, ending any speculation regarding a move to the Premier League.

Tottenham have Ange Postecoglou on their shortlist. The Celtic boss is now the leading candidate for the role.

Mason stated that the Tottenham job is still attractive even though they are struggling to attract a manager to lead their project.
