Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes Jadon Sancho has made good progress this season.
The assessment follows Sancho’s impressive performance against Chelsea yesterday. The 23-year-old looked electric on both the left and right side of the attack.
Sancho assisted Anthony Martial’s goal as United beat the Blues 4-1 at Old Trafford.
The England international started the game on the left flank but switched to the right after Antony went off with an injury.
Ten Hag thinks Sancho’s performances have improved this season, but it is only a baseline to build on from.
He said (via Man Utd’s official website): “He did very well on the right side, and I think he played a very good game.
“I think Jadon Sancho was one of the players who [has made good] progress in this season. And there were many players in our squad who made good progress.
“I think it’s a good base to build further on.”
Sancho has made 39 appearances for United this season and will likely add to that tally this weekend. He has bagged six goals and three assists.
He missed a large part of United’s season due to fitness concerns. Ten Hag told him to take some time away from the squad to get up to speed.
The attacker will know there is plenty of improvement to make. He is still miles away from being the player United paid €73 million to sign.
Sancho must improve his intensity and contribute more with goals and assists.
United will need all hands on deck next season to continue the fantastic work they have started under Ten Hag.
The Dutchman has urged United to enter the transfers market and secure top-quality players as they prepare to play in the Champions League next season.
