Mohamed Salah reacts as Liverpool miss out on Champions League football

Mohamed Salah has apologised to Liverpool fans after the club missed out on Champions League football.

Manchester United beat Chelsea 4-1 to cement their place in the top four alongside Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United.

They went into the game against Chelsea today needing just one point to book their place, but picked up all three against the listless Blues.

Immediately after the game, Salah took to social media to apologise to the Merseyside club fans.

The Reds struggled to get going this season and lagged behind in the top-four race. They only began to pick up steam a few weeks ago.

They won seven consecutive games to give themselves a chance, but their draw against Aston Villa last weekend threw a spanner in the works.

Salah was one of the few players who kept his level high for most of the season. He has bagged 19 goals and 11 assists in 37 Premier League games.

The 30-year-old has continued to play his talismanic role for Jurgen Klopp’s team. Unfortunately, it was not enough for them to secure silverware or a Champions League spot.

However, Klopp has said his side is not too big for the Europa League and they will be in it to win it next year.

Liverpool end their campaign at Southampton on Sunday.
