Erik ten Hag urges Man Utd to sign better players for Champions League football next season

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has told the club what they need to do to be competitive next season.

The Red Devils secured Champions League football with a 4-1 win over Chelsea but will need to bolster their squad to compete against the top teams.

Ten Hag said (via the BBC): “We need better players if we want to compete for the highest.”

Chelsea attacking midfielder Mason Mount is one of Ten Hag’s top targets in the summer transfer window.

The England international is entering the final year of his contract. The Blues have not made him an acceptable offer to renew, and he is heading towards the exit.

United value Mount at £55 million, but Chelsea will demand more.

They also need a centre-forward and have their sights set on Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane. He is reportedly their primary target to lead the line.

However, they are worried that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will be tough to deal with and may switch their attention to Randal Kolo Muani, Rasmus Hojlund or Victor Osimhen.

United will need a centre-back to replace Harry Maguire if he leaves this summer.

Ten Hag will expect the club to go into the market and back him after a successful first year in Manchester.

The Dutch manager led United to their first trophy in six years, defeating Newcastle United to win the League Cup.

They are also in the final of the FA Cup, where they will face rivals Manchester City on June 3.
