Manchester United will offer £55 million to Chelsea for England international Mason Mount, according to the Daily Mail.
United manager Erik ten Hag has prioritised a move for the England international, who is open to leaving his boyhood club.
Mount is in the final 12 months of his contract, and Chelsea only recently started negotiating with him about a new deal.
However, it could be too late, with several top clubs eyeing moves for the 24-year-old. Arsenal and Liverpool have already registered their interest in signing him.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has identified Mount as an option to bolster his midfield as they prepare for Champions League football.
Liverpool are also looking to rebuild their midfield and have him as one of their top targets for the revamp.
Man United want to position themselves ahead of their competition with a £55m offer for Mount. Chelsea value him at £85m, but there is room for negotiation.
United will likely up their bid for the midfielder. Ten Hag is adamant about adding him to his squad for next season.
United are intent on signing the player, and with Chelsea lagging in their talks, he could walk away this summer.
Mount has been one of Chelsea’s best players over the past four years and will be irritated with the club’s failure to open talks earlier.
The Portsmouth-born star returned from loans at Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County to establish himself with Chelsea.
Mount won the Chelsea Player of the Year award in 2020/21 as they won the Champions League.
He was also in the UCL team of the season. He won the Chelsea POTY award again a year later, transitioning from midfield to attack and recording career-high output.
Pochettino wants Mount to sign a new deal, but there is a distinct possibility he could leave this summer.
