Bayern Munich add Julian Alvarez and Adrien Rabiot to summer wish list

Bayern Munich are considering moves for Argentinian striker Julian Alvarez and French midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer, reports German outlet BILD.

It’s been a difficult season for the Bavarians. Last month, they were eliminated from the DFB Pokal at the hands of Freiburg, before being knocked out of the Champions League by Manchester City.

On top of this, it is looking increasingly likely that they will miss out on the Bundesliga title for the first time since 2012.

Going into the final game of the season, they need to win and hope that Borussia Dortmund drop points to defend their crown.

Whether they win the league or not, an improvement will be demanded by the men in charge. The German giants are looking into summer deals for Alvarez and Rabiot as they seek to bolster their squad.

Alvarez has enjoyed a fine debut season at Man City. Despite starting just 22 games in all competitions, the forward has netted 17 goals. He also played a key role in Argentina’s triumph at the World Cup in Qatar, scoring four.

However, with Erling Braut Haaland as his competition, the 23-year-old has little chance of being a regular starter in the near future. As a result, he may pursue more game time elsewhere.

Bayern are expected to pursue a new striker in the upcoming transfer window, having not brought in a natural replacement for Robert Lewandowski last summer.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane is believed to be top of their list, but the England captain will likely stay in the Premier League as he chases Alan Shearer’s all-time goal record.

As for Rabiot, he could be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, with his contract set to expire. He was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United last year.

The Bavarians may also make a move for a central midfielder this summer. Joshua Kimmich and Ryan Gravenberch have been linked with transfers away, and Leon Goretzka has had a disappointing season.

Despite this, a swoop for Rabiot is looking unlikely. BILD claims that Declan Rice remains their first choice, and German journalist Florian Plettenberg says manager Thomas Tuchel is reluctant to sign the Frenchman, having had issues with him at Paris Saint-Germain.
