Manchester United ready to make double raid on Barcelona

Erik ten Hag is actively driving Manchester United towards an ambitious double swoop on Barcelona, with Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong on his radar.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Red Devils are ready to provide Ten Hag with a staggering €500 million budget to revolutionise the club’s prospects, with numerous high-profile targets in their sights.

While Man Utd’s interest in De Jong dates back to last summer, the Dutch midfielder recently played down talks linking him with the Camp Nou exit in the summer.

However, strapped for cash amid an ambitious plan to bring Lionel Messi back to Catalunya, Barcelona may have to renounce several prized assets in the summer to raise funds.

Despite establishing himself as a permanent first-team fixture under Xavi Hernandez, the former Ajax man could pay the price for the Catalans’ pursuit of Messi.

Man Utd are ready to embrace him with open arms, and they’ll have the means to complete the transfer, especially if a long-running takeover saga goes through before the end of the season.

De Jong is not the only Barcelona star linked with a move to Old Trafford as Araujo’s future in La Liga hangs by a thread amid the Blaugrana’s Financial Fair Play deadlock with La Liga.

United hope to exploit the Spaniard’s financial turmoil and sign the highly-rated defender on a free transfer, provided they fail to register his contract before the transfer window opens for business.

Although such a scenario looks far-fetched from Barca’s point of view, the club’s inability to adhere to La Liga’s demands could open a floodgate in the coming months.

In addition to Araujo and de Jong, Man Utd will earmark a substantial war chest to sign an out-and-out striker to address the team’s well-documented scoring problems during Ten Hag’s first season.

Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane remains a dream signing, but Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen feature high on the club’s shopping list.
