Bayern slap €25m price tag on Man United loanee Marcel Sabitzer

Bayern Munich have named their price for Manchester United loanee Marcel Sabitzer ahead of a possible permanent switch to Old Trafford this summer, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Austrian midfielder is not in Bayern’s plans for next season but has a contract with the German champions that runs until the summer of 2025.

Sabitzer’s contract will give Bayern the upper hand in negotiations, but the Germans are keen to offload the midfielder amid plans to reinforce their squad.

Sabitzer joined Man United on a simple loan during the January transfer window after falling out of favour with the Bundesliga giants.

The 29-year-old has proven a solid addition to Erik Ten Hag’s side, contributing three goals and an assist in 18 appearances across all competitions this term.

Sabitzer has turned up for ten Hag’s side when needed this term, scoring some important goals, including a brace against Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-final first leg.

However, he was unable to affect the reverse fixture in the 68 minutes he spent on the pitch as Man United fell to a capitulating defeat against the La Liga strugglers.

The former RB Leipzig man could have played his last game for Man United, having suffered a knee problem after a 16-minute cameo in the defeat to West Ham United.

The meniscal injury will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

Sabitzer has impressed enough to earn a permanent stay, with Man United keen to make his switch permanent this summer.

Bayern will demand €25 million for the midfielder who only joined them in the summer of 2021

However, there is reportedly no development in talks or negotiations between both clubs because of Man United’s ownership situation, which is still uncertain.

Ten Hag has struggled to implement his transfer plans, with the club’s ownership still hanging in the balance. The Dutchman wants at least three new players as he looks to reinforce every outfield area in the squad.
