Luis Enrique and Arne Slot are the two leading candidates for the vacant managerial position at Tottenham Hotspur, reports the Telegraph.
Spurs have been in the hunt for a new manager since the departure of Antonio Conte in March.
Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason have had interim spells in charge in the last couple of months, but neither will be given the job permanently.
Tottenham are seventh in the Premier League with two games remaining. Their trophy drought is set to continue, while European qualification is not guaranteed.
Their next managerial appointment could be a huge one, especially with Harry Kane’s coming to an end next year.
The club record goalscorer’s future is in doubt, with many people feeling he should leave to pursue silverware. However, the right manager could encourage him to stay.
Julian Nagelsmann and Xabi Alonso were believed to be on Tottenham’s radar but have since been declared out of the running. They will now turn to Luis Enrique or Arne Slot.
Enrique began his coaching career in 2008 with Barcelona B, later managing Roma, Celta Vigo, Barcelona and the Spain national team.
With La Blaugrana, he lifted six major trophies in three seasons, including a treble in the 2014/15 season.
He took Spain to two major tournaments but was unable to guide them to glory. He stepped down in December, following his side’s round of 16 exit to Morocco at the 2022 World Cup.
As for Slot, his managerial career began just four years ago with AZ Alkmaar. He spent a year and a half with the Eredivisie side, achieving a club record of 2.11 points per game.
He subsequently joined Feyenoord, where he has been a huge success. He took them to the final of the Europa Conference League in his debut campaign and has followed this up with an Eredivisie title this season.
Tottenham are also continuing their search for a new sporting director following the resignation of Fabio Paratici.
Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claims that Eintracht Frankfurt’s Markus Krosche is at the top of their list, while the likes of Tiago Pinto, Johannes Spors, Tim Steidten, Marco Neppe and Lee Dykes are also being considered for the role.
