Newcastle United want Villarreal ace Samuel Chukwueze with Allan Saint-Maximin expected to leave

Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Villarreal forward Samuel Chukwueze, according to Spanish outlet Relevo.

The Magpies are expected to part company with Allan Saint-Maximin in the summer.

The French attacker has fallen out of favour under manager Eddie Howe and is attracting suitors.

Saint-Maximin has lost his place in the team recently and has started half of the 22 Premier League games he has featured in this term.

The 26-year-old has bagged one goal and five assists and Newcastle are keen on letting him leave.

There have been concerns over the left winger’s fitness, and his defensive contributions have also been questioned.

Saint-Maximin has scored just 13 goals in 121 games since joining the St James’ Park club in 2019.

Newcastle will be playing in Europe next term and are keen on players capable of delivering the goods.

Chukwueze has been in fine form this term, with seven goals and five assists in 34 games.

The Nigerian international has also been linked with Real Madrid, but a move to a club where he is guaranteed regular playing time would be more appealing.

At 23, Chukwueze will only continue to improve, and Howe could fancy his chances of making him better.

He mostly plays on the right wing, but he is a left-footer and could be a perfect replacement for Saint-Maximin.
