Napoli prepare new deal for Victor Osimhen with huge release clause

Napoli are planning a strategy to keep hold of their star striker Victor Osimhen amid interest from Europe’s elite clubs.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Napoli will hold talks with the Nigerian next month over a new contract in an attempt to keep him beyond the summer.

They are looking to increase his current salary of €4.5 million per season and include a hefty release clause worth €160 million.

The Partenopei want Osimhen to ply his trade at least for another season, but his agent will try to negotiate the release clause.

The 24-year-old has been one of the driving forces behind Napoli’s historic Scudetto triumph this season, leading the Serie A scorers list with 23 goals.

His imperious form has led him to be considered among the finest strikers in the world and has caught the attention of some of the top clubs in Europe.

Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United want the former Lille striker, who is valued at around €100m.

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich were interested in Osimhen, but they have pulled out of the race and switched their attention to Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani.

Paris Saint-Germain are looking to sign the Super Eagles star, with football advisor Luis Campos identifying him as the marquee target for the summer.

Osimhen has also often flirted with the idea of leaving the Maradona Stadium by stating that he dreams of moving to the Premier League.

Keeping Osimhen will help the Partenopei continue their dominance in the Italian top flight and also potentially challenge for the Champions League next season.

However, there could be a stumbling block, with rumours continuing to link manager Luciano Spalletti with an exit this summer despite helping Napoli win the league title.

Spalletti’s departure may have an impact on Osimhen’s future, with the Nigerian holding him in high regard after helping him grow in stature.
