There are growing reports in France that Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has emerged as a top target for Paris Saint-Germain.
According to RMC Sport, PSG are keen to lure the Portuguese midfielder in the summer transfer window, with Lionel Messi heading towards the exit door.
PSG’s footballing advisor Luis Campos has been tasked with finding a replacement for the World Cup winner, and he has handpicked his compatriot Silva as an ideal target.
The 28-year-old is tempted by the prospect of moving to the French capital, having previously expressed his desire to seek a new challenge.
Silva remains a pivotal figure for Pep Guardiola and has a great chance to win a treble this season, with Man City sitting at the top of the Premier League table and currently in the semi-finals and final of the Champions League and FA Cup respectively.
The Portuguese international’s contract expires in 2025, and he is valued at around €80 million.
Barcelona are admirers of Silva, but a transfer looks impossible this summer due to their financial situation. They are also working on the potential return of Messi.
Campos and Silva know each other well from their time at AS Monaco, which may give PSG an edge.
PSG also have strong ties with Silva’s agent Jorge Mendes, who engineered the moves of his clients Vitinha and Renato Sanches to the Parc des Princes last summer.
The club are keeping tabs on Lyon starlet Rayan Cherki and Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise as alternative targets to reinforce their attack.
Cherki is considered one of the best young prospects in Ligue 1, while Olise is having a spectacular season in the Premier League.
