Feyenoord offer Arne Slot a new deal to fend off Tottenham interest

Feyenoord have offered their head coach Arne Slot a new contract in a bid to keep him at the club, according to the Daily Mail.

The 44-year-old led Feyenoord to their 16th Eredivisie title last weekend – just their second in the 21st century.

Last season, Slot led his team to the Europa Conference League final.

They reached the quarter-final of the Europa League this season. AS Roma beat them on both occasions.

Several European clubs have noticed Slot’s work. Tottenham Hotspur have been monitoring him since dismissing Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini.

Spurs are looking for a new permanent manager after a disappointing campaign that will likely see them miss out on Champions League football.

Interim manager Ryan Mason has not done much to improve Tottenham’s season, but he is a candidate for the job.

With Julian Nagelsmann out of the running, Slot is one of the top contenders.

However, the Eredivisie champions will not let their manager go without a fight. Feyenoord have offered him a £2.5 million per year salary.

However, Feyenoord know that Tottenham can offer him higher wages and a bigger transfer budget.

But they hope the opportunity to take this exciting Feyenoord team to the Champions League could convince him to stay.

Tottenham missed out on Dutch manager Erik ten Hag when looking for Jose Mourinho’s replacement. They would hate to make the same mistake with Slot.

Slot is highly rated, but Tottenham must pay £6 million compensation to take him.

Spurs have other managerial targets including Roberto De Zerbi, Ruben Amorim and Xabi Alonso.

Bayer Leverkusen administrator Tim Steidten, AS Roma’s Tiago Pinto, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Markus Krosche and Johannes Spors are options for the club’s sporting director role.
