Bayern Munich to take on Premier League duo in pre-season

Bayern Munich are set for a highly-entertaining round of pre-season friendlies, which will see them take on Manchester City and Liverpool in the space of a week.

The Bundesliga giants are heading to Asia for their summer tour and will take to the field in Japan and Singapore.

Bayern will lock horns against Man City on July 26, before facing off against Liverpool on August 2 – just over two weeks before the start of the 2023/24 season.

Sandwiched in between those games is a clash against Kawasaki Frontale at the National Stadium in Tokyo on July 29.

Having suffered an embarrassing 4-1 defeat on aggregate in April’s Champions League quarter-final clash, Bayern will be keen to get one over on Man City with the Cityzens now unbeaten in the last four editions of this fixture.

July’s meeting will be the second consecutive summer that the two teams will go head to head in a non-competitive capacity following last year’s friendly in the United States, where Erling Braut Haaland grabbed the winning goal on his debut for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Bayern also boast a poor record against Liverpool, having failed to win any of the last three encounters.

The most recent defeat came in the 2019 Champions League last-16 as Liverpool strolled to a routine 3-1 victory en route to winning Europe’s premier club competition for a sixth time.

While Bayern will undoubtedly aim to put on a better showing against their English counterparts this time around, the Bavarians are currently focused on retaining their league crown with Borussia Dortmund in hot pursuit.

Thomas Tuchel’s side currently lead the Bundesliga table by one point heading into the final two games of the campaign, and they are just about on course to secure an 11th straight title.
