Liverpool in pole position to sign Man Utd and Arsenal target for £70m

Liverpool are reportedly in pole position to sign Brighton & Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister for £70 million this summer.

The 24-year-old has been a key member of the Seagulls’ first team this season, helping them compete for a European place.

He has made 30 Premier League appearances this term, registering ten goals and an assist.

The World Cup winner is under contract at the Amex Stadium until 2025, but he could leave this summer.

Manchester United and Arsenal have been credited with an interest, but Liverpool are leading the race for the Argentine.

According to the Mirror, the Reds are favourites to secure a deal for Mac Allister.

The Reds have endured a disappointing 2022-23 campaign and will end the season without a trophy.

Their recent upturn in form could see them finish in the top four, but the chances of that happening are slim.

Liverpool are expected to have a busy summer transfer window as they aim to make a comeback next term.

Reinforcements in midfield are their main priority, and they have been linked with several big names, including Jude Bellingham.

They later pulled out of the race due to the sizeable transfer fee and have switched their attention to Mac Allister.

If they agree to pay £70m for the 24-year-old, it would make him their third-highest transfer in the club’s history behind Virgil van Dijk and Darwin Nunez.
