Todd Cantwell stars as Rangers beat Celtic 3-0 in Old Firm derby

Rangers defeated Celtic to seal a memorable win in the Old Firm derby today, and attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell was the star.

The former Norwich City player helped Rangers ramp up the pressure in the opening minutes.

In the fifth minute, Cantwell sent the ball wide before it came back in for John Lundstram, who fired an effort at Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart.

The former England international beat it away, but Cantwell swept the rebound into the net through Hart’s legs to send Ibrox into raptures.

Cantwell constantly hassled Celtic players as they stepped into Rangers’ half. He blocked off passing lanes and shut down passing options for the opponents.

Celtic had more of the ball, but Michael Beale’s side worked hard to stay compact and took their chances when they came. For all the possession Celtic had, they only registered one shot on goal.

Nico Raskin and Cantwell were impeccable in midfield. The latter was pulling strings to start attacks as Rangers looked to collect bragging rights from the derby.

Rangers got their second through John Souttar. He stooped low to get some power behind a James Tavernier corner.

Souttar has been dealing with some injuries but is a solid player when he plays.

The Gers made the lead more emphatic through Fashion Sakala. A Celtic defensive error allowed the Zambian to round Hart and make it 3-0.

Cantwell was involved again as he won the ball in a dangerous area before setting up Sakala one-on-one.

Celtic have won the title, but this win gives Beale something to build on ahead of next season.

Also, it gives Beale his first win over Celtic.
