Borussia Dortmund identify Edson Alvarez & Gabri Veiga as Jude Bellingham replacement

Borussia Dortmund have started their search to replace Jude Bellingham, who is reportedly heading to Real Madrid this summer.

The talismanic midfielder is set to earn Die Borussen around €120 million, meaning there will be more than enough cash to invest in a new midfielder.

According to Sport Bild, Dortmund are keeping close tabs on Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez and Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga ahead of a potential move.

Alvarez’s future has been up in the air for a long time after Ajax blocked his move to Premier League giants Chelsea last summer.

However, there is a big chance that he could be on the move, with the Blues still interested in the Mexican international alongside Arsenal, Newcastle United and Liverpool.

Dortmund have also entered the mix, with Ajax looking for around £40m to part ways with Alvarez. Fellow Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich are also interested in the 25-year-old.

There have been conflicting reports about Veiga, who is one of the hottest prospects in Europe at present.

Several reports claim Real Madrid have reached an agreement in principle for Spaniard, although others have denied the rumour.

Celta have included a release clause worth €40m in Veiga’s contract, which represents decent value in today’s inflated transfer market.

Dortmund have always seamlessly found a replacement whenever their prized assets leave, and they are likely to do it again with Bellingham.

They are trailing leaders Bayern by one point in the Bundesliga table and will hope Bellingham can sign off by helping them overhaul their rivals.
