Dani Olmo sets conditions for Leipzig renewal amid Dortmund links

Dani Olmo’s future at RB Leipzig has been subject to speculation, with his current deal expiring in 2024.

Die Roten Bullen are determined to keep hold of Olmo and have tabled an extension offer, but the Spaniard is taking his time to make a decision.

His situation has caught the attention of some of the top clubs, including fellow Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Die Borussen have identified the 25-year-old as a top target for the summer in a bid to build a competitive squad and challenge on all fronts next season.

A new report from Sky Sport Germany has shed light on Olmo’s stance, stating that the Spaniard is open to extending his contract with Leipzig.

But it hinges on a couple of conditions, one of which is the Champions League qualification.

Leipzig are well positioned to secure a place in the next season’s UCL, sitting third in the table, a point ahead of Union Berlin.

Olmo also wants a competitive squad heading into the next season, meaning a high-quality replacement is needed for Christopher Nkunku, who is on his way to Chelsea.

He doesn’t want to see his friend and teammate Dominic Szoboszlai leave in the summer amid interest from Premier League giants Newcastle United.

The versatile Spanish forward recently produced a scintillating display in the 5-1 win over Freiburg in the DFB Pokal semi-finals, scoring a goal and providing three assists.

The report also adds that Dortmund’s interest in Olmo is not concrete, and he has a good chance of extending his stay at Leipzig.

Barcelona are also keeping tabs on Olmo’s situation and are interested in bringing back their former academy graduate.
