AC Milan considering summer move for Noah Okafor

AC Milan are weighing up a summer move for RB Salzburg’s Noah Okafor, according to Calciomercato.

The report adds that Milan are also interested in Armando Broja, although a deal looks unlikely as the striker recently put pen to paper on a new deal with Chelsea until 2028.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud now approaching the twilight of their careers at the ages of 41 and 36 respectively, Milan are already making plans to snap up a striker for the future.

Off the back of his best-ever scoring season last time out where he netted 14 times in all competitions, Okafor has started the current campaign in fine form with nine goals, including one against Milan in the Champions League group stage.

The 22-year-old is expected to leave Salzburg next summer, following in the footsteps of notable exports from the Red Bull Arena such as Erling Braut Haaland, Patson Daka and Takumi Minamino.

Blessed with immense finishing ability and adept movement, Okafor would be a shrewd addition to any side for his rumoured price tag of about €30 million.

However, the Switzerland international is more accustomed to playing in a front two, which could give Milan second thoughts over pursuing a move.

The Italian giants are set to retain the services of Olivier Giroud for one more year but snapping up a new centre-forward next summer is imperative.

Following a goalless draw against Cremonese on Tuesday, Milan are now eight points behind Napoli in the league standings and their chances of securing consecutive titles have been dealt a serious blow.

A tricky assignment against Fiorentina awaits the Rossoneri on Sunday in their final outing before the World Cup kicks off and they will be looking to avoid falling further adrift of the top of the Serie A table.
