Barcelona have been handed a massive boost in the pursuit of Athletico Paranaense star Vitor Rique, whose agent has advocated a move to the Catalan giants.
The Blaugrana were the front-runners to sign the Brazilian youngster, but complications have arisen over the deal due to their financial troubles.
It has allowed other clubs, including Chelsea and Arsenal, to move ahead in the transfer pursuit.
However, Barca’s chances have been revived, with Roque’s agent Andre Cury claiming that a move to Camp Nou is the perfect step for his client’s career.
Roque has been viewed as an alternative for Endrick Felipe, who Barca failed to sign from Palmeiras and lost the transfer battle to Real Madrid.
Cury feels that Roque is better than Endrick and can be an important player for Barca.
“For me, he[Roque] is better than Endrick,” said Roque’s agent (h/t Sport). “Vitor Roque is a great player. If Barça sign him, they will have got it 100% right.
“He will be very important there in the future, he will grow a lot and his value will be multiplied by five.”
Roque has previously revealed his desire to represent the Blaugrana, who also have an edge in the form of Deco.
The Portuguese agent and Barca’s advisor in Brazil is reportedly a contender for the football director role at Camp Nou following Mateu Alemany’s resignation.
Deco, who engineered Raphinha’s move to Camp Nou last summer, could help Barca snap up Roque.
The Brazilian prodigy is one of the most highly-coveted prospects in the world after rising to prominence with his stellar season at Paranaense and an eye-catching South American U-20 Championship campaign.
