Bayern Munich in May: Bavarians favourites to win remaining matches to pip Dortmund to the title

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are engaged in a fierce Bundesliga title race, with just a single point separating the two teams.

The Black and Yellows’ disappointing 1-1 draw at VfL Bochum allowed their rivals to reclaim top spot.

The Bavarians sealed a 2-0 win at the expense of rock-bottom Hertha Berlin last weekend, with Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman on target. 

However, Bayern have been far from convincing since Thomas Tuchel took over as manager in March.

The German boss led his side to an impressive 4-2 success over Dortmund before guiding them to a 1-0 league triumph over Freiburg.

But the subsequent Champions League humiliation at the hands of Manchester City and a shock 3-1 loss to Mainz have somewhat shaken fans’ belief in the German boss. 

Despite this Bayern’s better run-in than their rivals makes them the favourites to lift the Bundesliga title.

According to reputed journalist Raphael Honigstein, the six-time Champions League winners will record a 100 percent record in their remaining games.

Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich (May 6, 2023) 

Werder Bremen look to have secured survival in the German top-flight this season, having 35 points from 30 matches.

However, the River Islanders have a slim chance of getting a good result against Bayern who battered them 6-1 in their previous meeting in November.

Bayern Munich vs Schalke (May 13, 2023)

Schalke are one of the top candidates to get relegated from the German top-flight this campaign.

The Royal Blues are set to face Bayern, Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig in their final three league matches – opponents who are all expected to pick up three points against them.

Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig (May 20, 2023) 

This will be the toughest fixture for Bayern, who played out a 1-1 draw with Leipzig in their last meeting at the Red Bull Arena.

Marco Rose’s side are in contention for a top-four finish, as they are just two points off Freiburg and Union Berlin. 

We expect this game to be a close contest, but Thomas Tuchel’s side should prevail due to home advantage.

Koln vs Bayern Munich (May 27, 2023) 

Koln have picked up some significant results against quality opponents this term, including the 1-1 stalemate at the Allianz Arena in January.

But beating a fully-motivated Bayern side in their final game of the season looks very difficult for them.

Dortmund have competed brilliantly with Bayern for the Bundesliga title this season, but their efforts will ultimately come up short.
