Juventus plotting summer swoop for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Serie A giants Juventus are preparing to make a summer move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to Calciomercato.

Milinkovic-Savic has enjoyed another impressive campaign, racking up six goals and eight assists in his 31 outings this term to help Maurizio Sarri’s side sit second in the league table.

For the umpteenth time since moving to Stadio Olimpico, Milinkovic-Savic’s future is up in the air as several European clubs look to acquire his services.

The midfielder has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United, while Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United also hold an interest.

However, Milinkovic-Savic’s next chapter could see him remain in Serie A with Juventus now joining the race for his signature.

With Paul Pogba enduring an injury-plagued season and Leandro Paredes set to return to his parent club, Juventus need midfield reinforcements this summer.

They will reportedly offer an initial €25 million fee for Milinkovic-Savic but Lazio are aiming to recoup around €40m.

However, Milinkovic-Savic has just over a year left on his current deal, which leaves Lazio in a tight spot with regard to negotiation.

I Biancocelesti are not giving up hope yet on retaining their star midfielder and will look to tie him down to a new contract over the next couple of weeks.

Shortly after becoming Lazio’s foreign top scorer of all-time last month, Milinkovic-Savic refused to comment on his future at the club, stating that he was only focused on helping his team achieve their objectives for the season.

“I am concentrated on the pitch, helping the team and achieving our objectives for the season,” the Serbian told DAZN (h/t Football Italia).

“I don’t want to talk about the contract renewal – we’ll see at the end of the season.”
