Arsenal and Aston Villa keeping tabs on Barcelona forward Ferran Torres ahead of the summer

Arsenal and Aston Villa are monitoring Barcelona forward Ferran Torres ahead of a potential summer move, reports talkSPORT.

The Spain international has made 41 appearances across all competitions for the La Liga club this term.

Torres has started 17 of those games and has been an important player for Barca.

However, the 23-year-old and some other players could be sold to raise funds to bring back Lionel Messi.

Arsenal are keeping tabs on the situation, with manager Mikel Arteta a long-standing admirer from their time together at Manchester City.

The Gunners will be playing in the Champions League next season and will look to challenge for the Premier League title again.

Torres has experience in English football from his time at the Etihad Stadium club.

He scored nine goals and weighed in with three assists in 28 league games.

Torres has not been able to replicate that form in La Liga and could be open to returning to England.

He will fancy his chances of earning a starting berth at Arsenal should a move work out.

Villa will also give him the chance of playing more regularly.

The Midlands club could be playing in Europe next term, and manager Unai Emery could do with attacking reinforcements.

Barcelona director of football Mateu Alemany is expected to join the Villans, boosting their chances of landing Torres.

The club owners are ready to bolster their squad to challenge for major silverware, and landing the Spaniard could be useful.
