Real Madrid ‘about to close the signing’ of Jude Bellingham

Real Madrid are close to signing midfielder Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

The England star had been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, but Marca claims Madrid are now the only club in the running.

Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United were touted as possible destinations, but it appears the lure of La Liga has persuaded Bellingham to head to Spain.

Madrid reportedly have an agreement in principle with Bellingham, and he will join the club on a six-year contract this summer.

Dortmund wanted €140 million for the midfielder, but the deal will be completed for around €100-120m.

The Premier League giants offered more than Madrid for a player who has been widely tipped to become the world’s top midfielder.

Bellingham set to lead Madrid into a new era

The prospect of being the central figure in Madrid’s attempts to build a vibrant young squad has undoubtedly spiked Bellingham’s interest.

Bellingham joined Dortmund from Birmingham City for €25m in 2020. He has since established himself as a key player for club and country.

The 19-year-old could leave Germany as a champion, with Dortmund just one point behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga standings.

He has played a major role for Dortmund this term, bagging 11 goals and seven assists in 40 appearances in all competitions.

His potential addition to Madrid’s ranks would provide a boost to a formidable midfield that features some of Europe’s top talents.

With Luka Modric and Toni Kroos approaching the end of their respective careers, Bellingham’s signing will help Madrid cope seamlessly when they move on.

The move will boost Madrid’s hopes of wrestling the La Liga title back from Barcelona, with the Catalan giants on course to claim top spot this season.

Bellingham’s switch to Spain is a blow to his Premier League suitors, each of whom would have benefited from having the midfielder in their ranks.
