Liverpool favourites to sign Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is poised to leave the Amex Stadium this summer amid interest from several Premier League clubs.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are looking to steal a march on the other potential suitors and get a deal wrapped up early for the Argentine.

It is no secret that the Reds are planning to reinforce their squad, especially in the midfield area, where they have suffered most of their injury woes this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s team have fallen off from a side that came within touching distance of a famous quadruple last season.

Their injury problems, especially in the middle of the park, has been cited as the cause for their underwhelming campaign.

They are looking to bring in some much-needed reinforcement and have already begun making early moves for Mac Allister ahead of the summer transfer window.

Having pulled out of the race for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, who is now reportedly one step away from joining Spanish giants Real Madrid, Liverpool have set their sights on relatively cheaper alternatives.

Mac Allister represents a cheaper option to Bellingham, who was going to cost the Reds a fortune, and they have reportedly opened talks with the player’s camp over a summer move to Anfield.

Liverpool feel they are progressing in their bid to sign the World Cup winner, having presented their project to the player’s representatives.

Mac Allister’s stock rose exponentially following his performances in the 2022 World Cup, and Brighton may be powerless to stop his departure this summer.

Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in Mac Allister, but the player is not a priority for the Blues, while the Red Devils are keen but handicapped by their ongoing sale process.

Mac Allister’s versatility will prove as useful to Liverpool as it has for Brighton, with the midfielder notching ten goals and two assists in 33 appearances across all competitions this term.
