Klopp faces investigation after referee rant in Liverpool win over Tottenham

Jurgen Klopp delivers verdict on damning defeat at Bournemouth

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp faces investigation after his behaviour during Sunday’s home win over Tottenham Hotspur

The Anfield encounter was heading for a draw after Spurs recovered from three goals down to level the scores in the third minute of injury time.

However, Diogo Jota immediately popped up with the winner to spark wild celebrations among the home fans.

Klopp was ecstatic but took his celebrations too far. The German boss ran to the fourth official and screamed in his face.

The Reds manager received a yellow card but his post-match comments about referee Paul Tierney created more controversy.

Klopp suggested Tierney holds a grudge against the Reds in his interview with Sky Sports.

He now faces an FA inquiry and could be given further punishment for his rant.

The 55-year-old’s attack on Tierney deflected attention from Jota who was very lucky to be on the pitch after his foot collided with Oliver Skipp’s face.

His tackle left Skipp requiring lengthy treatment, and the midfielder later came off with Richarlison replacing him.

Tottenham interim manager Ryan Mason was furious with the decision not to dismiss Jota.

Mason said that Jota clearly deserved a red card and demanded an explanation of why that didn’t happen.

The decision ultimately cost Spurs heavily as the 26-year-old scored the stoppage-time winner.
